papel no ciclo do carbono. O sensoriamento remoto hiperespectral
O objetivo deste
resolu{\c{c}}{\~a}o espectral do sensor Hyperion/Earth Observing
One (EO-1), obtidas nos per{\'{\i}}odos chuvoso e seco
fitofisionomias com An{\'a}lise Discriminante Linear (LDA), assim
regress{\~a}o por m{\'{\i}}nimos quadrados parciais (PLSR).
980 nm e 1200 nm ({\'a}gua foliar), 1700 nm, 2100 nm e 2300 nm
(lignina e celulose). Os resultados obtidos mostraram que
par{\^a}metros estruturais, como di{\^a}metro, altura, densidade
e {\'a}rea basal, expressaram adequadamente o gradiente entre as
fitofisionomias analisadas. Os valores de AGB medidos/estimados no
invent{\'a}rio florestal variaram de 34,46\$\pm\$2,7
t.ha\$^{-1}\$ em parcelas de cerrado denso a 3,98\$\pm\$0,7
t.ha\$^{-1}\$ em parcelas de campo limpo. A
realizada no per{\'{\i}}odo seco. Os valores do {\'{\i}}ndice
Kappa foram de 0,78 e 0,82 para os per{\'{\i}}odos chuvoso e
seco, respectivamente.
RMSE=6,60 t.ha\$^{-1}\$). Esses valores foram pr{\'o}ximos aos
ru{\'{\i}}do. ABSTRACT: The Cerrado is considered one of the
{"}hotspots{"} worldwide. It is an important repository of
biodiversity and it plays significant role in the carbon cycle.
Hyperspectral remote sensing can help to improve the
discrimination of its vegetation types as well as the accuracy of
estimates of above-ground biomass (AGB). The aim of this study is
to characterize seasonally the spectral response of the Cerrado
physiognomies of the \emph{Esta{\c{c}}{\~a}o Ecol{\'o}gica de
{\'A}guas Emendadas} (ESEC-AE), located in central Brazil, using
six images of the hyperspectral Hyperion / Earth Observing One
(EO-1) sensor. The images were obtained in the rainy and dry
seasons of 2014 (March to August). A floristic-structural survey
was performed over 45 plots (0.10 ha each) at the ESEC-AE. The
combined use of different hyperspectral attributes was tested for
the discrimination of the cerrado physiognomies using Linear
Discriminant Analysis (LDA), and for the estimation of AGB in the
dry season using Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR). The
attributes used were as follows: the reflectance of 146 bands of
Hyperion; 22 narrow-band vegetation indices; 10585 reflectance
ratios; and the depth, width, area, and asymmetry of six major
absorption bands positioned at 680 nm (chlorophyll), 980 nm and
1200 nm (leaf water), 1700 nm, 2100 nm and 2300 nm (lignin and
cellulose). The results showed that the structural parameters,
such as diameter, height, density and basal area, expressed the
strong gradient between the studied physiognomies. The AGB values
measured / estimated in the forest inventory ranged from 34.46
\$\pm\$ 2.7 t ha\$^{-1}\$ for cerrado woodland to 3.98
\$\pm\$ 0.7 t ha\$^{-1}\$ for cerrado grassland. The
LDA-derived discrimination between the physiognomies showed the
best results when we considered all the attributes in the dry
season. The Kappa index ranged from 0.78 to 0.82 for the rainy and
dry seasons, respectively. The gain in classification accuracy
between the seasons was statistically significant according to the
Z-test (p <0.01). For the AGB modeling using PLSR, the best
results were also obtained with the integrated analysis of the
attributes in the general model (R\$^{2}\$ = 0.66 and RMSE 6.60
t.ha\$^{-1}\$). These values were similar to those found with
reflectance ratios (R\$^{2}\$ = 0.65 and RMSE = 6.63 t
ha\$^{-1}\$), probably due to the high number of attributes
derived from this set of metrics (10585 band ratios). The use of
Hyperion allowed the combination of different hyperspectral
attributes, which were useful not only in the
characterization/discrimination of the cerrado physiogniomies, but
also in their AGB modeling. These attributes can be tested in
future projects in the cerrado using the planned HyspIRI and EnMAP
missions, which will acquire hyperspectral images in larger swath
width and with better signal-to-noise ratio than that from
Hyperion.",
